Chairman Jon Marley steps down

GIGA Board Changes at AGM

The Guernsey Island Games Association Board saw some changes at the recent AGM on 20 November 2025.

Chairman Jon Marley stepped down after two years in the role, and eighteen with GIGA overall.

He joined the board after competing at the Games in Volleyball for many years.

At the AGM on Thursday night, sports voted for seven board members out of a possible eight people standing.

Ross Yeates and Emma Webb are new faces joining this year.

Ross has competed in six games as a swimmer starting in the Isle of Man in 2001. He finished in Guernsey in 2023 before moving into swim team management for the Orkney games in 2025.

Ross says he understands how much work goes into the games from both athletes, and management behind the scenes.

He added: "I'm incredibly grateful to have been elected to the GIGA Board and proud to have the opportunity to give something back."

Emma Webb has represented Guernsey at 10 Island Games - 9 for Basketball and 1 for Table Tennis. Her first games was also the Isle of Man in 2001 and she retired from Basketball after the Guernsey games having secured a bronze medal on home soil.

Emma says she feels privileged to have been elected, having always enjoyed competing and having made many friends from various islands over the years.

She said: "I'm looking forward to supporting the activities of GIGA and Team Guernsey for the next Island Games."

Karen "Bucky" Archenoul, Isla Wright, Chris Jackson, Sue Naftel and Matt Bowen, who were existing members, make up the rest of the Board.

The AGM Chairman, Jon Marley, thanked Jane Le Tissier for her two years as part of GIGA.

The Board will assign roles at their first meeting next month.
