From an early age, Bucky immersed herself in the world of sport, representing her island across multiple disciplines, including Netball, Basketball, Softball, and—most notably—Volleyball. Making her debut at the Sunshine Games in Gibraltar in 1995, she went on to compete in eight Island Games, earning a Bronze medal in 2001 and eventually captaining her team before retiring in Bermuda in 2013.
Her dedication extended beyond competition. As an administrator for the Volleyball Association for more than two decades, Bucky has played a pivotal role in shaping the sport’s development. In 2015, she joined the Board of GIGA, further cementing her commitment within Guernsey’s sporting community.
Taking on the challenge of travel and logistics coordination for the 2017 and 2019 Games, Bucky ensured smooth operations for Guernsey’s athletes. With no travel needed for the home Games in 2023, she shifted her focus, working closely with Isla to outfit more than 300 Team Guernsey athletes while also volunteering for the Organising Committee.
Since 2023, Bucky has taken on the role of Team Manager, a position she finds both busy and rewarding. Her dedication to the Island Games, shaped by years of competition and leadership, continues to drive her forward.
