Isla's sporting prowess is somewhat lacking in comparison to other members of the board (she says so herself) having first been introduced to the Island Games supporting her younger brother in mountain biking at the 2001 games in the Isle of Man. That was followed by Guernsey hosting in 2003 where Isla covered the games for work, as a journalist at BBC Guernsey. That fully instilled her love of the Games, the ethos, the atmosphere and the friendships it fosters. Work saw her travel to follow Team Guernsey in Shetland ('05), Isle of Wight ('11) and Bermuda ('13).
Isla joined the board whilst on maternity leave in 2015.
With her media background, Isla works on GIGA's social media, website and events relating to Team Guernsey but, as a Board, everyone pitches in to help where needed so gets to do a little bit of everything. Isla says she loves playing her part to support Guernsey's athletes compete at their best across a variety of sports.
